Atheros, it seems to be a good chipset for a WiFI nic (network interface controller). I never used it though.
I use a netgear access point (but not in router mode) at work with no problem. I don't play PS at work, only MSN
I'm a bit reserved about the processor Athlon XP2000. I'm not really good in hardware stuff.
Lowest configuration I used :
processor : Athlon XP3000+
memory : 1GB RAM
graphical card : ATI Radeon 9200se (128MB)
very low fps (graphical card was a pain and burnt!)
Currently :
processor : Centrino Duo 2x1,73GHz
memory : 2GB RAM
graphical card : ATI Radeon mobility X1400
Both on Windows XP. Nah PorqueJorge, I won't play on my work servers
To be honest, I'm not really up for playing online game over WiFi. Especially if you use a low processor and a WEP/WPA protection. It took processor time for encryption/decryption and add latency (ping). Furthemore a lot of packets are dropped (collision, attenuation...) and need to be transmit again.
Do you have a lot of packets loss ?

Showoffs, real men play on old shit:
704Mb RAM
64Mb Integrated Graphics (Thieved from the RAM)
AMD Sempron Mobile 3000+ clocked at 1.8Ghz
1x 40Gb Internal HDD, 1x 400Gb USB External HDD
4Mb Virgin Media Internet (10Mb soon hopefully)
Windows XP Pro
Probably explains why I can never kill anyone, they've already killed me before the game catches up enough to show me them shooting me.

 Re: Your Specs
I have upgraded to a Q6700 now. I have much better performance in FSX over my Q6600.
OMG how does Palodin possess a good computer? This does not compute. Now you can go and be more than a cloaker
